More background info
When I started working, after a while I found myself in a leadership position at an Italian IT company before I turned thirty. For me, as a ‘down-to-earth Frisian,’ it was a real culture shock.
On one hand, there was working with passion, warmth, and many personal relationships. On the other, a ‘blame’ culture with large egos, where one of my managers literally sat on an elevated platform on the work floor to lead the company.
Although I enjoyed working at this company, I knew then that this was not how I wanted to work. As my career progressed, I worked as an (interim) manager, trainer, and consultant for various IT and management consultancy firms.
Over the past 20 years, I have worked as an advisor for a large number of government organizations and multinationals. Even there, I often encountered situations where I thought, ‘this can be different.’ In these organizations, people often ‘had to’ change because others had decided so, not because they wanted to.There was often little attention given to personal development and the feelings of the people involved. Unfortunately, this is still the case today.
What I have learned over the years is that implementing lasting changes requires time, attention, patience, courage, and perseverance. This can be compared to sports, such as running and training for half or full marathons—one of my other passions. Here too, you see the similarities. Management styles, cultures, and training programs can be very different, yet they all have the same goal: to bring out the best in people. Ideally, this is done with respect for individual needs and qualities, without people becoming ill or injured.
Through my work, I have gained extensive experience with different management styles, cultures, and organizations. I have also learned that success in your work is largely determined by how things are going personally. I want to use this experience through AnderZ-Om to drive structural changes on both personal and professional levels.
Simply because I am convinced that how you approach it matters!
In the further course of my career I have worked as an (interim) manager, trainer and consultant for various IT and management consultancy companies. As a consultant I have worked for a large number of government organizations and multinationals over the past 20 years. There too I often encountered issues that made me think 'this could be done differently'.
In these organizations, people often 'had to' change because others had thought of it that way and not because they themselves wanted it that way. There was often little attention for the personal development and feelings of the people involved. Something that unfortunately still occurs to this day.
What I have learned in all these years is that making lasting changes requires time, attention, patience, courage and perseverance. You can compare this to sports. For example, running and training for half or full marathons. One of my other passions.
See here also the similarities. Approach, style and method can be completely different. In the end they all have the same goal. Supporting people to perform optimally. If it is good, with respect for the individual needs and qualities of people without them getting sick or injured.
Through my work I have built up extensive experience with different management styles, cultures and organizations. In addition, I have experienced that success in your work is largely determined by how you are doing on a personal level.
